The Coastal Passage is very concerned and cautious when it comes to the download of programs via the web. The download available from this page, especially when saved as instructed, seems the safest and best quality found so far.

This reader, FOXITREADER, is a small file (2.76meg) that can be saved and operated from your Windows "Documents" file without installing to your hard drive! When you click on the link below, you will be asked by your computer if you want to "open" or "save", and ask where you want to save. Select "My Documents".

Once downloaded, open your "documents" file and find the program. Double click or right click and select "open" and a window will open asking if you wish to use this as your default reader. To open a file directly, indicate yes.

If you don't like the program, just delete from your documents. This program has been used at the offices here and found satisfactory. Better than the big name program, a fraction of the size on your computer and no shonky "updates".

When using you will see a small coloured bar in the upper right corner. This is the maker of the program providing a link to obtain a registered version of the program which can do editing and conversion and other powerful duties. TCP has no experience with this and makes no recommendation but if it works as well as the reader it could be excellent value compard to Adobe.
